The Skerries, Anglesey, 30th January 2011

I was expecting standing waves through the races around the Skerries. Luckily the sea was relatively calm, but the wind was bitingly cold!
Friends had set off from Bull Bay. I joined them at Cemaes Bay, and we were soon heading out to Harry Furlongs Rocks....

Then further out to Victoria Bank...

Thanks to my paddling partners navigation skills, we reached the Skerries - rather than falling short and being slingshotted by the tide past Carmel Head!....

There was a freezing F4 wind cutting across the sea, with only a small amount of shelter in the harbour at the centre of the rocky outcrop....

We explored the deserted lighthouse before leaving it to the huge brown seals hauled up on the rocks.
It was certainly an uninspiring sky for photography, but it was a great day out, experiencing a wild, bleak, isolated place.

28th December 2010 Rhoscolyn to Trearddur, Anglesey

A very cold wintry trip from Rhoscolyn to Trearddur Bay and back with friends - with only a F4 breeze, but some swell made it "lumpy and interesting"...
